What if I illustrated my poem called A Mindful of Whimsy?
I originally included a photo of a treehouse with this poem, but I’m thinking it could use an original illustration, something more imaginative.
I want to show children in a world of their own making. I want to make the impossible appear possible.
Here is the poem I wrote a few years ago and published on Yahoo Voices.
Mindful of Whimsy
What do you do with a mindful of whimsy?
Nothing but fantastic thoughts
Swirling about without a care
Don’t dare to share them with those that have not
For fear of bursting the beautiful bubbles
As others share only their troubles
So what do you do with a mindful of whimsy?
Those wild, amusing thoughts
Soak in them, Roll in them – Dance in the air!
Nurture them and cherish the joy they have brought
To your magical world that only you know
Where finding yourself happens when you let yourself go
Here’s my sketch and completed drawing.
Your poem and picture brought back memories of time, when pretending was such fun.
So happy you enjoyed it! We all need to keep in touch with our imaginations
