What if Wednesday: Combine Pastels and Colored Pencil

What if I use pastels to cover a background and use colored pencil to create details?

For this one, I chose my husband’s dream car, A Shelby Cobra, and put it in on the beach at sunset, because where else would you drive your dream car? No one is in the car, because they are exploring the beautiful beach.

I wanted to show some of the curves and contours, but also distort the shadows and lighting due to the fading sunlight.

I love how the pencil cuts right through the pastels and adds crisp details. But I found adding pastels after pencil was there had a risk of clouding the pencil, and made it a bit dull. I think I could definitely get pastels and pencils to be best friends one day, I just need to develop this technique some more.
